Iowa Beer Buzz | More Alluvial Bottle Releases, BrrrFest and Distro News

A week after a successful release of Barrel-Aged Aurox, Alluvial announced more barrel-aged beers will be available in December. Martin Shkreli, a BA Rye Imperial Stout and their BA Wee Heavy Big Yin will release mid-month. Shkreli made its debut at el Bait shop last week and is clocking in at a solid 4.35 bottle caps per Untappd users.

With the holiday season we see the return of the Barrel-Aged Vanilla Imperial Porter from Boone Valley Brewing. This is also a signal that Ol' Grizz and barrel-aged Ol' Grizz will tap soon. Look for the barley wine to hit December 9th-ish at the taproom.

In Eastern Iowa, Green Tree Brewing released Russian Ruckus, a Barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout at their taproom on Black Friday. There's also a coffee version that holds a solid 4.19 bottle caps via Untappd.

Friday, December 1st, William Milo Stone Stout returns to the Knoxville, Des Moines and Grinnell tap rooms. This non-BA Imperial Stout checks in at a very healthy 10% ABV. All taprooms will have growler fills and four-packs to-go. No word on distro yet.

Last Friday, the local gas station and market had growler fills and to-go bottles of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. We first saw KnG jump into the big beer game with Founders KBS in April. They too will have growlers and bottles of Founders CBS this Friday starting at 4pm. Gimme a beef jerky stick, a tin of Skoal and some of that Canadian Stout stuff, thank you very much.

All this stout stuff got you down? Don't worry, Barn Town has more IPA headed your way. Although, if you get a chance to try the Barrel-aged Muddy Water that was on tap last Friday, do it.

Tickets for the annual Eastern Iowa beer buffet went on sale yesterday morning. If you desire a Brewmaster/VIP pass tough luck. Those have sold out. It appears general admission tickets are still available but going fast.

If Bourbon Country didn't dent your wallet, these next two weeks likely will. Founders CBS is expected available Friday morning. Expect to pay $25 a bomber. Barrel-aged Victory at Sea (Ballast Point), Anniversary and BA Velvet Merkin (Firestone Walker) and Willittized Coffee Stout (Lagunitas) could all be on the shelf by Friday too. Eastern Iowa got the BP and Fdub in today. Also, we're looking for Central Waters BA Stout and Oskar Blues BA Ten Fidy (fingers crossed) to join the shelves soon too. If your wife leaves you at least you'll have your beer.
