Iowa Beer Buzz | Peace Tree Coffee Stout, Scorpion King Sue and More Backpocket 5th Anniversary

I believe this is new beer number four from Peace Tree in the last month or so. This time, it's a coffee stout that PT will release January 18th. Per their Facebook page, this one sits at 6.5% ABV and uses Costa Rica coffee beans from Ross Street Roasting from Tama, Iowa.

Is there a new beer on the horizon from TG? File this one under "Rumor Alert." There's a new Untappd check-in for a Triple IPA named Scorpion King Sue. Comments mention test batch. Something to keep an eye on.

If you missed BP's 5th Anniversary BA RIS this year don't fret, Backpocket announced on their Facebook page there will be more. The post says a limited amount will release sometime this summer.

Altoona's Brightside Aleworks has a new Neapolitan Stout set to release January 12th. Stay tuned for more of the beer details, but here's the tweet:

Franklin Street's rich imperial stout Manticore gets the coconut treatment. There's a release with growlers planned soon. Stay tuned for a post when the details announce.

The latest in Exile's newest hop series titled "The Hop Chronicles" will release January 19th. Pacific Triad is an unfiltered Pale Ale dry hopped and full of Citra, Vic Secret and Motueka hops.

The LeClair, Iowa, brewery has a new English Porter available at the taproom. Astoria doesn't have a lot of information out there yet but it looks good.

Finally, if you dig barrel-aged beers then you may want to get your tickets to Des Moines' El Bait Shop bar's Barrel Beer Brunch. Tickets are on sale for $65 per person and include 12 drink tickets and take home glassware. The brunch is set for February 3rd at 9am. Stay tuned to El Bait's social media accounts for the eventual tap list.
