SingleSpeed Brewing Company to Release First Barrel-Aged Beer

This week, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, is the annual Hops on Main event. It's a ticketed gathering ($25) with a healthy list of bars and Iowa breweries offering samples of brews for patrons to taste. Tickets can be purchased online or at the SingleSpeed taproom. Hours of the Thursday evening event run 5:30 pm- 9:30 pm. See the event website or Facebook Page for the list of bars and breweries.

One beer that will be available is Brotherhood, the first ever barrel-aged beer released by SingleSpeed Brewing. Brotherhood is an Imperial Stout aged in what appears to be (from the SS Facebook Page) a Cody Road Whiskey barrel from Mississippi River Distilling Company (of LeClair, Iowa).

SingleSpeed has a beer portfolio of over 100 beers but Imperial Stout is something still new. There's plenty of stouts, porters and oatmeal stouts they make very well. They did unveil an Imperial Stout at Rise and Roast, an event in February. Oh Brother might be the base here but that's a guess on my part. This is exciting news and more details will likely follow on SingleSpeed's social media accounts soon.
