The Iowa Brewers Guild and Iowa Brewfest Needs You

Summer is approaching and with that brings the Des Moines craft beer week and Iowa Brewfest. The fest features practically every brewery in Iowa sampling beers for patrons in the downtown streets of Des Moines. Such an event can't happen without volunteers and the signup sheet is available online.

This will be my third or fourth year as a volunteer. I'll have to count the t-shirts in my drawer (yes, you get a cool and free t-shirt). Volunteering has providing me a chance to meet the brewers and sometimes get a sample of things before the gates open. It's a little bit of work but a lot of bit of fun.

There's still a need for Gatekeepers, Ice Crew, Set-up Squad and Tear Down team. There's also been hints of a volunteer party at some point. Two years ago there was a meeting that included a free beer at Confluence.

The 8th annual fest will be held June 16th from 1-5 pm. The location is just behind the Iowa Taproom on East 4th Street. Tickets are already on sale for Iowa Brewers Guild Army members and go on sale for the general public April 27th. Tickets for VIPs get you in an hour early and cost $40 in advance. Tickets for the general public are $30 and $5 for designated driver tickets.
