The Iowa Brewers Guild Updates This Summer's Events

If you're looking to load your Summer calendar with beer events, the Iowa Brewers Guild has you covered. With Craft Beer week's quickly approaching in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, there's plenty to do.

Next week is Cedar Rapids Craft Beer Week and it kicks off with a Brewers Olympics. Lion Bridge will host the event Saturday, May 11th at their brewery. 12 Iowa breweries will complete in beer related activities and of course, have plenty of beer available. The breweries listed are: Backpocket, Barn Town, Big Grove, Firetrucker, Iowa Brewing Company, Lark Brewing, Lion Bridge, Millstream, Peace Tree, Quarter Barrel, ReUnion and Single Speed. Festivities start at 5:30 pm.

Saturday, May 12th is the annual Benz Beerfest in Cedar Rapids. Tickets are still available here.

Monday, May 14th, the Brewers Guild will host an off-flavor workshop at the Quarter Barrel Arcade and Brewery. Details are in this tweet:

Des Moines' Craft Beer Week gets started June 15th-24th. The Iowa Craft Beer Fest is set for June 16th in downtown Des Moines and just a few general admission tickets remain. The evening before is the annual Beer Mile starting and ending at el Bait Shop. More details on the Des Moines week as it approaches.

Finally, there's some interesting happenings in July. Single Speed will host a new Sour and Cider Festival July 14th. The event is planned to run from 4pm-8pm in Waterloo. The official brewery list is still TBD but Single Speed plans to host over 30 breweries with over 100 sour beers and ciders.
